Kentucky GenWeb projectVernon Woodford Bush - 1942-2007 Vernon Woodford Bush, 64, of Grayson, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 23, 2007, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. He was born Oct. 4, 1942, in Carter County, a son of the late Roy Vernon and Flora Gibson Bush. He was of the Christian faith and a Vietnam War U.S. Army veteran who received the Purple Heart. He retired from Labors Local 1445 in Catlettsburg and was a member of Willard American Legion Post 342. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Wells. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Laverne Elam Bush of Grayson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Veronica and Andy Porter and Christi and Jeff Thompson, all of Grayson; a sister, Mary Lou Perry of Grayson; two brothers, Robert “R.D.” Bush of Grayson and Ernie Bush of South Shore, Ky.; and four grandchildren, Whitney Bush, Blake Porter, Savannah Thompson and Alexis Thompson. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by minister Randy Binion. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens with military rites by the East Carter Jr. ROTC. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101. Condolences may be sent to malonefuneralhome.com.
