Clarence C. Carroll - Clarence C. Carroll, 81, of 3864 Winchester Ave., was dead on arrival at 10:45 p.m. Monday at King's Daughters' Hospital following several month's illness. Mr. Carroll was born Aug. 10, 1893, in Carter County, a son of the late Landon and Martha Carroll. He attended the Pentecostal Church in Flatwoods and was a retired locomotive engineer for Armco Steel Corp. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the U.S. Navy, a Kentucky colonel, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of Clarence Fields Post 76, American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Brown Carroll; two sons, John G. Carroll of Flatwoods and Elwood T. Carroll of Tampa, Fla.; a stepson, David Van Deneer of Pittsburgh; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Blanche Price of Lake Charles, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Anna Brown of Ashland; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
