OBIT - Ed Carroll, 76, Grahn, died Wednesday at his residence following a sudden illness. Mr. Carroll was born Jan. 1, 1896, in Carter County, a son of the late John and Mary Elizabeth Parsons Carroll. He was a retired employe of the Louisville Firebrick Co. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha DeBord Carroll; two sons, Dempsey and Augustine Carroll, both of Rt. 5, Olive Hill; four daughters, Mrs. Irene Maddix of Grahn, Mrs. Glena Sturgill and Mrs. Helen Ross, both of Columbus, and Mrs. Garnet Tiatt of San Diego, Calif.; four brothers, Sam Carroll of Olive Hill and Dennis, Silas, and Oscar Carroll, all of Rt. 5, Olive Hill, two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Littleton of Fultz and Mrs. Ella Owens of Olive Hill; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Pleasant Hill United Baptist Church by Benny Blanton and Henry Counts, ministers. Burial will be in the Carroll Cemetery.
