Kentucky GenWeb projectGeorge Carroll Dies Suddenly Funeral Service To Be Held Monday - George B. Carroll, 69, one of the city's best known citizens, died suddenly at his home, 2816 Main Street, at 5:30 o'clock Friday afternoon, apparently a victim of the intense heat. The end came very suddenly while Mr. Carroll was making preparations for a Fourth of July outing. The news of Mr. Carroll's sudden death came as a distinct shock to his host of friends throughout the city. He had resided here for many years and was widely known. He was a native of Carter county and was born April 19, 1862. Besides his widow, Mrs. Nancy C. Carroll, he is survived by four children, Harry L. Carroll, city clerk; Walter J. "Stubby" Carroll, Mrs. D. E. Freeman and Miss Dorothy Carrroll, all of Ashland and by two brothers, Charles Carroll, of Ashland and Thomas Carroll of Ironton, O.; and one sister, Mrs. Helen Prichard of Grayson. Funeral service is to be held from the residence Monday afernoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. E. P. Hall, pastor of the First M. E. Church, Eighteenth and Carterrand. Rev. J. W. Hagin, pastor of the First Christian church in charge. Burial is to follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park. (Found in the Ashland Daily Independent - July 5, 1931) "Son of John and Nancy Damron Carroll"
