Minister Passes To Reward - Rev. J. F. Carroll, aged 32 years, passed to his reward last Thursday, December 9, at his home at Soldier after a lingering illness of several months with that dread disease tuberculosis. For some time it has been known that he could not recover and all the time he held close to his Maker with an eye to Him who is mighty and able to deliver. He was His servant here for years and was at the time of his death minister at Soldier and pastor of the church at Soldier. The church and citizenship of Soldier know they have lost a friend and neighbor and the work of Christ's kingdom will miss him. He leaves a loving wife and three children, the eldest of whom is but six; a kind mother; three brothers and four sisters, a large church and a host of friends to grieve his departure. He told them all to prepare to meet him where he had gone to reap the reward laid up for him and all the true Christian workers. He was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness church, and his funeral was held at the church of which he was pastor, conducted by Rev. Raymond Simpkins, pastor of the local church here, after which his remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near. (Carter County Herald, Dec 16, 1926) I think his name was James Floyd Carroll, son of John Morgan and Phebe Ellen Smith.
