OBIT - Mrs. Barker Dies; Funeral Saturday - Paintsville - Mrs. Julia Barker, 71, of Van Lear, died Wednesday afternoon in Paintsville Hospital following an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Barker was born July 4, 1896, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Tommy and Jane Phillips Carroll. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Her husband was the late Jarrett Barker. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Van Lear Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Lowell Pelphrey and the Rev. Woodrow Frisby. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Van Lear. Surviving are four sons, Walter Barker of Dayton, O., Earl, Emory, and Ernest Barker, all of Van Lear; a daughter, Mrs. Jesse LeMaster of Staffordsville; two brothers, Cecil and Calvin Carroll, both of Grahn; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The body has been taken from the Jones-Preston Funeral Home to the residence where friends may call.
