Mrs. Maggie Gifford, wife of W. M. Gifford, died at her home at Kellogg, Wayne county, yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock after an illness of but four hours. 
She was 49 years of age.     

Mrs. Gifford became violent ill shortly after noon yesterday, lasping into unconsciousness before any of her family reached her. Neighbors were called. 
They became alarmed and sent for the husband of the sick woman who was at work. Mr. Gifford hastened to his home but his wife was unconscious on his arrival.
He remained at her bedside for several hours, talking and pleading with her, but receiving no answer. A physician, who had arrived an hour or so before, 
shook his head and said he could do no good. Mrs. Gifford died soon afterwards. Death was due to cerebral hemorrhage, the physician said.     

Mrs. Gifford is survived by her husband and several small children.
