OBIT - Millard "Red" Carroll, age 94, of 1157 Wall St., Olive Hil, Ky., passed away Friday morning, Jan. 7, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Carroll was born Dec. 25, 1910, in Carter County, Ky., a son of the late Logan and Lillie Holbrook Carroll and grandson of the late John and Mary Carroll. He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from General Refractories. Red was a lifelong farmer and livestock trader. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Alma Lucille Stevens Carroll; one daughter, Faye Duncan; three sons-in-law, Estill Duncan, Billy Baber and Lavern Sargent; one brother, Gabriel Carroll; and three sisters, Lillie Carroll, Vergie Sparks and Thelma Sammons. Red is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifton "Cliff" and Sharon Carroll of Ironton, Ohio, and Danny Ray and Johnnie Carroll of Olive Hill; two daughters, Merlene Baber of Hampton, Va., and Gail Sargent of Flatwoods, Ky.; eight grandchilden; and seven great-grandchildren. He leaves a host of family and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan 10, 2005, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with James Carroll and Eury Barker officiating. Burial will be in Jr. OUAM Cemetery in Olive Hill. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today and until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Dale Duncan, Jerry Baber, Bryant Carroll, Mark Greene, Jarrod Vinson, Hunter Vinson and Stevie Linde will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be brickyard co-workers and farming friends.
