Elder Stanley Cox 1922-2004 Elder Stanley Cox, 81, of Rt. 7, Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, in Elliott Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Cox was born May 19, 1922, in Elliott County, a son of the late Mark and Viola Beair Cox. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Skaggs Cox; two sons, Curtis Cox and Kenneth Cox in 1989; a brother, Allen Cox; and two sisters, Loval Barker and Gwandaween Barth. He was a farmer, was an Army World War II veteran and received a Purple Heart. He had been a minister for about 50 years and was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Baptist Church. He is survived by five children, Michael Cox of Oak Hill, W.Va., Colin Cox of Carlisle, Ky., Danny Cox of Scott Depot, W.Va., Pamela Cox Davis of Bruin, Ky., and Penny Cox Collins of Van Lear; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters, Lavonna Lewis of Mansfield, Ohio, Margie Garris of Mansfield, Nelson Cox of Olive Hill, Earl and Jack Cox, both of Mansfield, Georgia Parrish of Olive Hill and Betty Johnson of Brown Ridge, Ky.; and a special caretaker, Robin Winkleman. The Cox family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Hart and the staff of Elliott Nursing and Rehab for the care that was given to our father. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Ky., with Elders Theodore Evans, Isiah Vance and Ruben Lykins officiating. Burial will be in Skaggs Family Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Scott, Robbie and Chris Cox, Matthew Baxter, T.J. Perkins, and Stan, Shawn and Jeff Cox. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Baptist Church, c/o Nelson Cox, Route 7, Box 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
