Ruth Porter 1921-2003 

Ruth Cox Porter, age 81, of Shiloh, Ohio, died at home, Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, after an extended illness. Mrs. Porter was born Aug. 15, 1921, in Gimlet, Ky., living in the Mansfield, Ohio, area since 1946. 
She married her husband of 38 years, Clell David Porter, on March 31, 1942. She retired from Foodtown (T & amp;A Saveway) after 28 years. She attended Hannah Road Church of God. 
She won several awards for her quilting talents and enjoyed quilting as a member of Piece Makers Quilt Club in Shelby, Ohio. She will be missed and always remembered by her family and friends. 

She is survived by a daughter, Bev Porter of Shiloh; a granddaughter and her spouse, Kelly Jo (Porter) and Ken Anderson of Galion, Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Ethel Cox of New Boston, Mich., 
Paul Cox of Stark, Ky., Raymond and Stella Cox of Wyandotte, Mich., Glennis and Arlene Porter and Dale and Judy Porter, all of Mansfield, Ohio, Vaughn Porter of Lexington, Ohio, 
and Jewell and Garnet Porter of Olive Hill, Ky.; a sister, Faye Mobley of Ecorse, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Alfreda Cox and Ruby Cox, both of Olive Hill, Gladys Porter of Mansfield, Dixie Manning of Muldraugh, Ky., 
Fay Blizzard and her husband, George of Olive Hill, Joyce Perry of Marion, Ind., Eleanor Wilcox and her husband, Dave of Warrenton, Va., and Virginia Waddell of Olive Hill; two brothers-in-law, 
Elvis Kidd of New Carlisle, Ohio, and Maxy Beair of Olive Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Georgie Cox; her husband, Clell David Porter; 
an infant daughter, Lidice; four brothers, Eldon, Charlie, Wayne and Ralph Cox; and two sisters, Lizzie Kidd and Lois Jane Beair; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Laura and Jack Mabry, Bess and Kit Rose, 
Fred Manning, Libb and John Bowling, Maxine Rose, Budd Perry, Bert Porter and John and Geraldine Simmons. 

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill where funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon conducted by Pastor Gayle Price. Burial will follow in East Carter County Memory Gardens. Death notices Ashland Mack Sutphin Mack C. Sutphin, 71, of Ashland, died Saturday, Feb. 1, in King's Daughters Medical Center. 

Miller Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.
