5/24/2004 George H. Crum Sr. 1925-2004 George H. Crum Sr., 79, of Westwood, formerly of Flatwoods, died Sunday morning at Kingsbrook Life Care Center following an extended illness. George was born Feb. 15, 1925, at Garrett, Ky., a son of the late Riley and Graden Bartlett Crum. George was a retired auto body repairman and proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in central Europe as a combat infantryman and special vehicle operator in the occupation of Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lyons Crum, in 1994. Survivors include one son, George Crum Jr. of Ironton, Ohio; two daughters, Yvonne and her husband, Charles Diamond, of South Shore, Ky., and Tina and her husband, Kenny Parker, of Westwood; two brothers, James Crum and his wife, Hazel, of Ashland, Ky., and Melvin Crum and his wife, Almeda, of Olive Hill, Ky.; one sister, Ruby Ball of Greenup, Ky.; six grandchildren, Richard and his wife, Amy Diamond, Jeff and his wife, Paula Diamond, Jennifer and her husband, Jeff McFarlin, George A. Crum, Mike Crum, Angie and her husband, Brad Layne; and 13 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jeremiah, Blake, Shanna, Sami, Sarah, Callie, William, Logan, Kendall, Parker, Lakyn and Christian. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday by David Hawthorne, minister, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland. Interment will be in Coalton Cemetery with military rites by Ironton VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
