Lonnie Easterling 1924-1997 The Daily Independent, Ashland, Kentucky Monday, April 14, 1997 Lonnie Gabe Easterling, 72 of Grayson, died Saturday in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. Mr. Easterling was born June 6, 1924, in Carter County, a son of the late Joseph Gabe and Farlena Daily Easterling. He was a retired quality-control supervisor with Metal Forge of Columbus, Ohio, and a member of First Baptist Church of Grayson. He was a U. S. Army veteran who served during World War II. He was awarded the European, African, and Middle Eastern Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf cluster, the Distinguished Unit Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Surviving are his wife, Freda Bailey Easterling; two daughters, Carolyn Kay Habetler of Annapolis, Md., and Beverly Renee Higgins of Cape Coral, Fla.; a son, Joseph Sherman Easterling of Franklin, Tenn,; a brother, Laverne Easterling of Morehead; a sister, Mary Parman of Florida; and three grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. today at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by the Rev. Charles Davis. Burial was in Olive Hill Memorial Cemetery.
