John Arthur Jordan, Sr. Born – 1931 OLIVE HILL – John Arthur Jordan, Sr., age 76, of Olive Hill, passed away Thursday, May 31, at his home on Smokey Hollow Road in Olive Hill. He was born March 19, 1931 in Lewis County to the late Clyde and Effie Jordan. John was retired from Youngstown Sheeting and Tube, where he worked as a Security Police Officer. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a deputy Honorary Sheriff and also a Voting Precinct Chairman for Smokey Valley. He was known for his musical talents, he loved to play music and was a member of the Smokey Valley Band, which took part in many charitable events, such as entertaining local Senior Citizens and residents at area Nursing Homes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Jordan; one brother, Charles Dean Jordan and one great-grandson, Christian Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jane Stamper Jordan of Olive Hill; one son, John Jordan, Jr. of Olive Hill; one daughter, Sarah Jane Smith of Holbert, Indiana; four brothers, Luther Jordan of Denver, Colorado, Clyde Jordan, Bobby Jordan, and Roger Jordan all of Olive Hill; three sisters, Agnes Faye Kitchen, Anyes Raye McGlone and Myrtie Mae Cline all of Olive Hill; four grandchildren, Jodi Wentz, Joshua Jordan, Derinda Delcon and Merissa Smith; and eight great-grandchildren all of Olive Hill. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home. Brother Gary Sparks officiated. Burial followed in the Fultz Cemetery.
