Janice Marie Maynard Amos - 1938-2007 

Janice Marie Maynard Amos, 69, of Catlettsburg, Ky., died Saturday, May 19, 2007, in King’s Daughters Medical Center following a sudden illness. 

Mrs. Amos was born in 1938 in Catlettsburg. She was a member of Twin Fork Church of the Nazarene for 53 years. 
Previous employment included Boyd County School District (Eidson Elementary), Ponderosa Steak House and G.C. Murphy Co. 

Mrs. Amos was the daughter of the late Walter S. Maynard Sr. and the late Emma Louise Blackburn Maynard. 
She was the widow of Elmer Charles Amos Jr., who passed away in 1989 after 35 years of marriage. 
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Walter S. Maynard Jr.; and two sisters, Elizabeth S. McClelland and Clara Lou Forrest. 

Mrs. Amos is survived by her loving children: son Michael Amos and his wife, Jo; daughter Carolyn Chaney and her husband, David, all of Catlettsburg; 
and son Charles Amos and his wife, Kathy, of Ashland; a brother, Charles Maynard and his wife, Janie, of Grayson, Ky.; 
and a sister, Deborah Melvin and her husband, George, of Ashland. 

Mrs. Amos is also survived by five wonderful grandsons, Mick Amos and his wife, Stacy, of Ashland, Christopher Amos, Aaron Amos and Nicholas Todd Chaney 
and his wife, Miranda, all of Catlettsburg, and Charles David Amos and his wife, Rachel, of Live Oak, Texas; 
and her beloved three great-grandchildren, Tiffany Amos of Texas and Dylan Amos and Conner Amos, both of Ashland. 

Mrs. Amos was a devout Christian who lived her life putting God first and serving him faithfully her entire life. 
Her passion was mission work and she served her church as Nazarene Mission International president for 24 years. 
She also served as a Sunday school teacher, a VBS teacher, choir director and church secretary. 
Mrs. Amos was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who loved her family with grace and dignity. 

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Twin Fork Church of the Nazarene, Ky. 168, Catlettsburg, by her son, 
the Rev. Michael Amos, assisted by her grandson, the Rev. David Amos. Burial will be in Bayless Family Cemetery in Catlettsburg. 

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, May 22, 2007, at Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. 

Please note: In keeping with Mrs. Amos’ strong desire and wishes, women do not wear slacks/pants to visitation nor the funeral service.
