Franklin Messer - 1929-2007 Charles Franklin Messer, 78, of Carter City, passed away Sunday evening at his residence. He was born July 17, 1929, in Carter County, a son of the late Charles and Tennie Lore Messer. He was a farmer, sawmill operator and miner. He attended the Christian Church. He is survived by three brothers, Marvin Messer and Vernon Messer, both of Olive Hill, and Herman Messer of Grayson; a sister, Charlene Imel of Grayson; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Lee Messer and Oscar Messer; two sisters, Pearl Zornes and Laura Carper; and a nephew, Chuck Imel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Terrell Webb, minister. Burial will be in Horsely Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today, Nov. 20, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. His nephews will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
