Rebecca Patton Ross (1918-2006)
Rebecca Patton Ross, 88, of Ashland, died Saturday, July 15, 2006, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

She was born June 29, 1918, in Soldier, Ky., the daughter of the late Ernest 'Doc' and Beatrice Johnson Patton.
Mrs. Ross was a graduate of the Breckinridge School in Morehead, Ky., and earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Kentucky. S
he was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Playful Order of Parents.

She was co-owner of Eastern Kentucky Development Co. and owner of the Carolyn Clay Dress Shop in Paintsville, Ky.,
and Sunnybrook Golf Course in Morehead, Ky. She was a former substitute teacher in the Boyd County School District.

She took great joy in her service on the Kentucky Foster Care Review Board and the Shelter of Hope board.
She helped obtain funding for the King's Daughters Auxiliary Gift Shop and was a leader of Girl Scout Troop 118,
which has sustained longevity in the area. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Herbert C. Ross.

Mrs. Ross is survived by a son, Herbert Randall Ross and his wife, Debbie, of Destin, Fla.;
a daughter, Jacquelene Patton Ross Flaum and her husband, David, of Germantown, Tenn.;
grandchildren Rebecca Ann Flaum of New York City, Stephanie Patton Flaum Klug of Nokomis, Fla.,
and Christopher Patton Ross, Jayne Ashley Ross and James Cameron Ross, all of Destin;
and great-grandchildren Magdalene Patton Klug and James David Klug, both of Nokomis, and Hagen Russell Ross of Destin.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
by the Rev. Ike Nicholson and the Rev. Densmore Nisbit.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Miller Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
