Sadie Griffey
1905-2003
Sadie Gertrude Ramey Griffey, age 97, of Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Griffey was born Dec. 20, 1905, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late William and Anna Walker Ramey.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haskel Griffey; two sons, Lou Arlen Griffey and Charles Griffey; two daughters, Beatrice Ingles and Shelby Jean Griffey; five brothers, Richard Ramey, Earl Ramey, John Ramey, Chester Ramey and Charlie Ramey; and a sister, Nona Baker.
Surviving are two sons, William Milton Griffey of Xenia, Ohio, and Cecil "Eddie" Griffey of Grayson, Ky.; seven daughters, Eulane Harris, Jewell Hicks, Donna Sue Bailey, and Evaline Whitman, all of Olive Hill, Nina Maye Wilson of Dayton, Ohio, Christine James of Springfield, Ohio, and Louise Carter of Grayson; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church and officiated by the Rev. J.C. Bond. Burial will follow in Garvin Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today, Nov. 12, 2003, and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 13, 2003, at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill.
