Kentucky GenWeb projectOpal Howell 1910-2003 Opal Ratcliff Howell, 93, of Denton, Ky., went to be the Lord Sunday, Dec. 7, after a brief illness. She was born June 24, 1910, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late William and Donna Ratcliff. She was a homemaker and was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Howell; and a son, Donald Howell. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Jones of Denton and Jean Chandler of Ashland, Ky.; a sister, Maxine Burke of Rush, Ky.; six grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, Ky., by Gary Arrington, minister. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
