Kentucky GenWeb projectSamuel Salyers SALYERS, Samuel, 85, of Bridgeport, died Tuesday, August 9, 2005 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born February 20, 1920 in Olive Hill, Ky., son of the late Robert and Ora Tackett Salyers. Samuel was the owner-operator of the Salyers and Son Heating and Cooling Company in Martins Ferry and was a member of the Wheeling Elks. In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Davis Salyers; a son, Danny Salyers; two brother, Wiley Bays and Bobby Salyers; three sisters, Mary Workman, Elizabeth Workman and Rosalie Cordiano. Surviving are three daughters, Kathy Campbell and her husband, David of St. Clairsville, Susan Stevenson and her husband, Paul of Morgantown, W.Va. and Wanda Knight and her husband Sharon of Galion, Ohio; two brothers, Manual Salyers of Cass, W.Va. and Jim Salyers of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Mauk of Chicago, Ill. and Gail Myers of Tulsa, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and his best friend and companion "Katie". Friends are invited to attend visitation Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio where funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Wenger officiating. Interment services will the follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
