Willie Sexton

Willie Sexton, 88, of Strasburg died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, in Union Hospital in Dover. 

He was born in Olive Hill, Ky., on June 16, 1917, and was the son of the late John and Daisy Sexton. Willie retired from Hardy Coal Company in Sugarcreek. When Willie was not working, he spent his spare time gardening, fishing, and raising chickens. He was a member of the Believers Assembly Church in Beach City. 

His loving wife, Dorothy, survives him. Family was very important to Willie, a trait passed down by his father, John Sexton, who married Willie and Dorothy 68 years ago on April 19, 1936. 

He is also survived by his daughters, Judy (Larry) Boughman of Bolivar, Nancy Sexton of New Philadelphia, Shirley (Fred) Webb and Joan Sexton, both of Strasburg; three sons, William, Bill, (Sally) Sexton and Rick Sexton, both of Strasburg, and Larry (Delores) Sexton of North Carolina. In addition to his wife and children, other survivors include three brothers, Jay (Jewell) Sexton of Indiana, Dave (Shirley) Sexton of Dover and Clyde Sexton; 18 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. 

His daughter, Alice Pickar; two sons, Jerry and Paul Sexton; three sisters, Kathryn Sexton, Lena Froman and Mary Bontrager; a brother, Edward Sexton, and three half-brothers, Kelse, Jimmy and George Sexton; two half-sisters, Emily and Gracie Logan; and one granddaughter preceded him in death. 

A celebration of Willie's life will take place on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover with Pastor Gene Cooper officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. Following the burial, friends are invited to the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover for a luncheon. 

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
