Sena Skaggs Ison - 1908-2007 Sena Skaggs Ison of Blaine, Ky., went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 14, 2007, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was born Sept. 3, 1908, in Terryville, Ky., and was the daughter of the late James C. “Jim Butter” and Sena Boggs Skaggs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Ray” Ison, and a daughter, Linda Ison Carter. She was a retired teacher who taught for 40 years. Teaching brought much joy to her life and she touched the lives of many of her students. Sena was a 50-year member of Eastern Star in Blaine and was a Kentucky colonel. She was a member of Elizabeth Enterprise Baptist Church, where she had attended for more than 55 years. Sena was very active in civic affairs for the small community of Blaine. She selflessly donated her time and energy to many projects to improve her community. She was the oldest elected city council member, serving at the age of 92. Since her retirement, she loved farming and taking care of her herd of Red Angus cattle. Surviving are three grandchildren, Tony Ison of Blaine and his daughter, Crissy Ison, Eric Davis and his wife, Melissa, and daughter Aundreanna and Marla Spillman and her husband, Jeff, and their sons, Adam and Derick Spillman of Fallsburg, Ky. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Elizabeth Enterprise Baptist Church in Martha. The Rev. Emmett Barker, Buck West, Donnie Sturgill and Keith Sturgill will conduct the services. Burial will be in Anthony Ison Cemetery on Docks Creek in Moon, Ky. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the church. Young Funeral Home in Louisa is in charge of arrangements.
