Laura Inez Gilliam Webb, 85, of Olive Hill, died Wednesday, May 26, at her home. 

Mrs. Webb was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Carter County. 

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill. Burial will be in Webb Cemetery in Olive Hill.

George H. Crum Sr. 

1925-2004 

George H. Crum Sr., 79, of Westwood, formerly of Flatwoods, died Sunday morning at Kingsbrook Life Care Center following an extended illness. 

George was born Feb. 15, 1925, at Garrett, Ky., a son of the late Riley and Graden Bartlett Crum. 

George was a retired auto body repairman and proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in central Europe as a combat infantryman and special vehicle operator in the occupation of Germany. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lyons Crum, in 1994. 

Survivors include one son, George Crum Jr. of Ironton, Ohio; two daughters, Yvonne and her husband, Charles Diamond, of South Shore, Ky., and Tina and her husband, Kenny Parker, of Westwood; two brothers, James Crum and his wife, Hazel, of Ashland, Ky., and Melvin Crum and his wife, Almeda, of Olive Hill, Ky.; one sister, Ruby Ball of Greenup, Ky.; six grandchildren, Richard and his wife, Amy Diamond, Jeff and his wife, Paula Diamond, Jennifer and her husband, Jeff McFarlin, George A. Crum, Mike Crum, Angie and her husband, Brad Layne; and 13 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jeremiah, Blake, Shanna, Sami, Sarah, Callie, William, Logan, Kendall, Parker, Lakyn and Christian. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday by David Hawthorne, minister, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland. Interment will be in Coalton Cemetery with military rites by Ironton VFW Post 8850. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Elmira Easterling 

1918-2004 

Elmira Ritchie Easterling, 86, of Flatwoods, Ky., formerly of Olive Hill, passed away May 26, 2004, in Oakmont Nursing Home. 

She was born March 11, 1918, in Vest, Ky., a daughter of the late George W. and Naomi Shepherd Ritchie. 

She was a homemaker and attended the Shawnee Church of God. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert P. Easterling; four sisters, Margaret Ritchie, Eathel Moore, Charlotta Sammons and Irene Lyons; and four brothers, Alamander, David, Andy and Ishmael Ritchie. 

Surviving is one daughter, Wanda Bowe; four cherished grandchildren, John Bowe (Ann) of Lexington, Ky., Leigh Ann Bowe-Geddes (John Geddes) of Nicholasville, Ky., Randall Bowe (Stephanie) of Silsbee, Texas, and Lauri Bowe (Brett Mann) of Lexington, Ky.; and eight precious great-grandchildren, Christopher Bowe, Barbara, Autumn and Laine Geddes, Kirsten Stensen, Ian and Jessica Bowe, and Sadie Anne Brimeyer. 

Also surviving is one brother, Evert Ritchie (Edwina) of Long Lake, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Edythe Ritchie of Long Lake, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky., from 6 to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at the Shawnee Church of God in Flatwoods at 11 a.m. on Friday with Pastor James Stamper officiating. Burial will be in the Day Cemetery in Blairs Mill, Ky.

1940-2004 

Joseph Vernon Carroll, 63, of Grayson, died Monday, May 24, at his residence. 

Mr. Carroll was born Aug. 18, 1940, in Carter County. 

There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Friday at Cribbs Hill Cemetery.

James "Dickie" McCall 

1942-2004 

James "Dickie" McCall, age 62, of Rush, Ky., passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2004, in Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Ky. 

He was born May 25, 1942, in Carter County, Ky., a son of Fern Conley McCall of Rush and the late Doward McCall. 

He was retired from Laborers Local No. 1445 in Catlettsburg, Ky., and was an avid catfisherman. 

In addition to his mother, his survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Deidra and John Clark of Ashland, Ky.; two brothers, Delmar McCall of Grayson, Ky., and Bobby Joe McCall of Rush; two grandchildren, Amanda Jo Thomas and DeEricka Lynn Lewis; two stepgrandchildren, Markie Clark and John Robert Clark; a great-grandson, Cameron Thomas; four nephews; a great-nephew; a great-niece; and special friends, Joyce Parsons and Charlie Blevins. 

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Larry Garvin, minister. Burial will be in Cane Creek Cemetery.

Johnny Cecil Huntsman 

1958-2004 

Johnny Cecil Huntsman, age 45, of 11390 West Highway U.S. 60, Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Sunday evening, May 9, 2004, in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., from injuries he received in a motorcycle accident. 

Mr. Huntsman was born July 12, 1958, in Carter County, Ky., a son of Raymond Huntsman and the late Bertha Rose Huntsman. 

He was a construction worker, working on the pipeline out of Local 798. He also served with the U.S. Army and was a member of Grayson VFW Post 3705. 

In addition to his father, Johnny is survived by his stepmother, Nellie Ester Huntsman, of Olive Hill; five brothers, Johnny Ray Barker, Kenny Binion and Paul Huntsman, all of Olive Hill, and Wayne Binion and Ricky Huntsman, both of Grayson; three sisters, Carolyn Collins, Penny Roark and Shirley Boggs, all of Olive Hill; and a special friend, Jim Crowe Binion. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill and officiated by Raymond Allen Barker, J.D. Riggs and Eury Barker. Burial will follow in Carroll Cemetery in Grahn, Ky.

Ruth Ann Roe Smith 

1955-2004 

Ruth Ann Roe Smith, age 49, of 44 Herring Lane, Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Monday morning, May 10, 2004, at her residence. 

Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 5, 1955, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of Troy and Janet Knipp Roe of Olive Hill. 

She was a homemaker and a self-employed accountant. 

In addition to her parents, Ruth Ann is survived by her husband of 29 years, Kenny Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and David Bowling of Grahn, Ky.; two nephews, Brett Bowling and Jared Bowling; and three nieces, Robin Yangus, Dava Jordan and Felicia Barker. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill and officiated by Thomas James and John Jordan. Burial will follow in Kiser Cemetery in Olive Hill.

Willis 'Sparky' Sparks Jr. 

1930-2004 

Willis "Sparky" Sparks Jr., age 73, of Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Tuesday morning, May 11, 2004, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky., following a short illness. 

Mr. Sparks was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Carter County, Ky., and was a son of the late Willis Sparks Sr. and Grayce Elizabeth Brinegar Sparks. 

Sparky owned and operated Sparks Sporting Goods in Olive Hill since 1960. This was more than a place of business and a means to support his family. It was a legacy to his family and friends who stopped by each and every day just to say "hey!". On any given morning, you could stop and find a host of many, many friends gathered around the wood stove or back in the "sun room" catching up on the events of the day. He was of the Holiness faith and a Kentucky colonel. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Loretta Tackett Sparks; two brothers, Virgil Sparks and James Sparks; and one sister, Edythe Robinson. 

Sparky is survived by two sons, Timothy Martin Sparks and his wife, Linda, of Eagle River, Alaska and Chris Anthony Sparks and his wife, Denise, of Lexington, Ky.; two daughters, Rhonda Lynn P'Simer and her husband, John, of Olive Hill and Teresa Leigh "Teri" Carr and her husband, Dan, of Ashland; six grandchildren, John Charles P'Simer and his wife, Sheila, Michael Wayne P'Simer and his wife, Shelly, Melissa Jo P'Simer and her friend, Johnathon Blevins, all of Olive Hill, Travis Arnes Barker and his friend, Brittany Davis, and Tiffany Ann Barker, all of Ashland, and Trevor Austin Sparks of Lexington; two stepgrandchildren, Dustin Carr and his wife, Anna, of Ashland and Jason Carr, also of Ashland; six great-grandchildren, Charles Tanner P'Simer, Ashleigh Paige P'Simer, Kaitlyn Michelle P'Simer, Michael Hunter P'Simer and John Karl Wyatt Blevins, all of Olive Hill, and Brooklynn Camilla Barker of Ashland; and one brother, Gary L. Sparks and his wife, Linda, of Wilmington, Ohio. He will also leave behind special friends and family who will sadly miss him. 

A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family where Sparky will be laid to rest next to his loving wife, Loretta. 

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill for family and friends with Eddie Porter and Phyllis James officiating. 

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. 

Honorary pallbearers will be the store "loafers".

Trinnie Thompson 

1921-2004 

Trinnie Zornes Thompson, 82, of South Shore, died Sunday, May 9, in South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. 

Mrs. Thompson was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Carter County. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Okley Thompson. 

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown, Ohio.

Edna Floyd 

1913-2004 

Edna Irene Hignite Floyd, 90, of Grayson, Ky., went to be with the Lord on May 19 in King's Daughters Medical Center. 

Mrs. Floyd was born in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late William and Betty Hignite and the wife of the late Ottis Lee Floyd. 

She was a housewife and mother and was a member of Iron Hill Church of Christ. 

Mrs. Floyd is survived by one son, Wade, and daughter-in-law Joy Floyd of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Margaret and son-in-law Jim Scott and Bonnie and son-in-law Ronnie Pence, all of Grayson; five grandchildren, Mike, Rodney, Tammy, Bryan and Michelle; nine great-grandchildren, Heather, Amber, April, Krystal, Katie, Wade, Kaleb, Trey and Shelby; two great-great-granddaughters; three sisters-in-law, Hattie Hart of Grayson and Edythe Hignite and Marrina Hignite, both of Olive Hill, Ky.; four nieces; and two nephews. 

Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one grandson, Tony Floyd; two brothers, Charlie and Strother Hignite; and one sister, Gladys Minniehan. 

Funeral services will be Friday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Jerry Scott. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Henry Robert Jenkins, age 71, of 1622A West U.S. Highway 60, Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Tuesday morning, May 25, 2004, in University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Ky. 

Mr. Jenkins was born Aug. 26, 1932, in Boyd County, Ky., and was a son of the late Lawrence Robert and Naomi Alexandria Jenkins. 

He was a retired maintenance department employee with the city of Olive Hill. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Jenkins; one grandson, Robert Matthew Jenkins; one brother; and several sisters. 

Henry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie London Jenkins; two sons, Michael Jenkins and Gary Jenkins, both of Olive Hill; five daughters, Debbie Conn, Robin King and Sharon Henderson, all of Olive Hill, Joan Cook of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Donna Hunget of Mesick, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Fryer of Ashland, Ky.

Hazel Harrison, 78, of Grayson, Ky., passed away Monday, May 24, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. 

Mrs. Harrison was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late Jonah Whitt and Sible Shears Whitt. She was the wife of the late Cecil Rice and the late Wilmer Harrison. 

She was a housewife and mother and was of the Baptist faith. 

She is survived by three sons, Everett, James and Ercel Rice, all of Grayson; two sisters, Lorene Ward and Mary Griffith, both of Grayson; seven grandchildren, Charlene, Melinda and Jimmy Rice, Becky, Tina and Phillip Stacey, and Dorothy Harlow; 11 great-grandchildren, Josh and Michelle Cains, Ashley Tolliver, Sarah, Rachael and Kayla Harlow, Bobby Hickock, Randall and Kelsey Lucas, Derek Stafford and Dalton Stacey; and one great-great-grandson, Joseph Cains. 

She was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Whitt; and one sister, Millie Mayo. 

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 26, at 1 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson with Bruce Hiner officiating. Burial will follow in Cribbs Hill Cemetery.

John Bailey Jr. 

1921-2004 

John Bailey Jr., age 82, of 648 Lost Hills Road, Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Friday morning, April 16, 2004, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Ky. 

Mr. Bailey was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Carter County, Ky., and was a son of the late John and Florence Johnson Bailey. 

He was a carpenter for Northeast Area Development and served with the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the Phillipines. He was a member of National American Legion. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Anderson; three brothers, Max Bailey, Ronald Bailey and Hulbert Bailey; and two sisters, Arcie Behling and Cordelia Bailey. 

John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eva Heffington Bailey and one son, John Bailey III, both of Olive Hill; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lynn and Richard McCollum of Berea, Ky., and Sandra Huston of Norwalk, Calif.; three sisters, Geraldine Fly of Morehead, Clara Erma Bailey of Grayson, Ky., and Wanda Lee Ault of Fort Wayne, Ind.; six grandchildren, Codie Whitt of Morehead, Aaron and Ethan McCollum, both of Berea, Mike Huston of Olive Hill and Debbie Corria and Cathy Huston, both of Norwalk; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Clyde Holbrook officiating.

Gladys Hignite Minniehan 

1919-2004 

Gladys Hignite Minniehan, 84, of Carter County, Ky., went to be with the Lord on April 27 in St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead, Ky., due to an extended illness. 

Ms. Minniehan was born in Carter County on July 15, 1919, a daughter of the late Will and Betty Hignite. She was the wife of the late Ted Minniehan. 

Ms. Minniehan was a wife and mother and was a member of Iron Hill Church of Christ. 

She is survived by two daughters, Rita Carper and husband, David, of Grayson, Ky., and Betty Spivey of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Teddy and Douglas Minniehan and one sister, Edna Floyd, all of Grayson; two sisters-in-law, Edythe and Marrina Hignite; three granddaughters, Debbie Augarten, Robin Williams and Amy Hanshaw; one grandson, Andrew Carper; four great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; two great-great-grandchildren; four nieces; and one nephew. 

Ms. Minniehan was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; and two brothers, Strother and Charlie Hignite. 

Funeral services will be held at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson on Friday, April 30, at 11 a.m. with Tim Stamper officiating.

Royce Porter 

1931-2004 

Royce Porter, 72, of Hitchins, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 27, 2004, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. 

Mr. Porter was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Webbville, Ky., a son of the late John Willie and Faye Frazier Porter. 

He was retired from Kentucky Electric Steel, was a mason helper, attended the Mayhew Flats Community Church, and was a member of Labor Local No. 1445 of Catlettsburg, Ky. 

In addition to his parents, a sister, Myrtle Johnson, and a brother, Ernest Ward Porter, preceded him in death. 

His survivors include his wife, Emma Marshall Porter of Hitchins; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Barbara and Tommy Carter of Grayson, and Connie and Joe Saunders and Missy and Chris Carter, all of Lexington, Ky.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Timothy Porter and Mark and Sharon Porter, all of Hitchins and Keith and Tammy Porter of Grayson; three sisters, Christene Cooper of Grayson, Wanda Wells of Vermillion, Ohio, and Joyce Ann Ratcliff of Willard, Ky.; three brothers, Denver Porter of Hitchins, and Rex Porter and John Curtis "Trigger" Porter, both of Webbville; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. 

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 30, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Eddie Rice officiating. Burial will be in Porter Family Cemetery in Webbville.

Jewell Conley Wombles, 87, of Lexington, Ky., formerly of Soldier, Ky., passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2004, in St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. 

She was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Carter County, a daughter of the late R.D. and Dal Clark Conley. 

Her husband, Worden H. Wombles, preceded her in death in 1969. 

Surviving are two daughters, Judy Blackwell and Sharon Bennett, both of Lexington; a son, Robert Wombles of Wexford, Pa.; a sister, Amy Florence of Georgetown, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Heather Bennett and Andrew Wombles. 

Mrs. Wombles was a homemaker and was a member of Soldier Wesleyan Church. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel in Morehead with the Rev. Kenny Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery in Soldier.

Irene King, 78, of Corbin, Ky., died Monday, May 3, 2004, in Corbin B.R.M.C. 

She was born June 23, 1925, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert L. Johnson and Melissa Parish Johnson. 

She was a retired medical worker and believed in the Baptist faith. She was a member of West Corbin Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. King; three brothers, Elbert Lee Johnson, Arlie Johnson and Arvel Johnson; three sisters, Letha Johnson, Linnie Gee and Minnie Manning; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; and one grandson. 

Surviving are one son, Estill King and his wife, Phyllis of Corbin; two daughters, Lillie Blackburn and her husband, Gary, and Felicia Fitzpatrick and her husband, David, all of Corbin; one sister, Hazel Stamper of Olive Hill, Ky.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. 

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today, May 5, 2004, at West Corbin Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy McPheron. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Allene B. Little 

1925-2004 

Allene B. Little, age 78, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday afternoon, May 3, 2004, at her home, following a brief illness. 

Mrs. Little was born June 15, 1925, in Lawrence County, Ky., and was a daughter of the late Thomas and Pauline Ison Boggs. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Augustus Little, in 1997; a brother, Larry Boggs; and a sister, Evelyn Daugherty. 

She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church since 1948, where she was a WMU leader, Sunday school teacher and involved in many other activities in her church. 

Survivors include a son, William T. (Carol) Little of Ashland; two brothers, Fred (Alva) Boggs of Ashland and Lowell (Pam) Boggs of Ocoee, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Geneva (Kenneth) Perkins of Ashland; two grandchildren, Amy (Chuck) Evans, with whom she resided and Brett Little of Ashland; a great-grandchild, Alexander Evans; and many nieces and nephews.

Granny Davenport 

1915-2004 

Muriel "Granny" Vaughn Davenport, 89 years of age, went home to the Lord with her family and church friends by her bedside on Monday afternoon, May 3. 

She was born Feb. 10, 1915, in Pike County, Ky., a daughter of the late Allen and Leva Workman Vaughn. 

Granny was retired from G.C. Murphy Co. and was a 64-year faithful and longest member of the Catlettsburg Freewill Baptist Church. 

She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Ray Williams and Ernest Davenport; a stepson, Chuck Davenport in 1967; and a sister, Gertrude Kresin. 

Surviving are a brother, Delbert Davis of Ashland; a stepson, Paul Williamson of Catlettsburg, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Maretta Hughes of Catlettsburg; seven grandchildren, Sue Meade and Sonia Moore, who were her caregivers, Tina Taylor, Ronnie Williamson, David Davenport, John Hughes, and Lee Ann Branham; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. 

Serving as pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Brian Justice, Robert Meade, Jeremy Moore, Justin Moore, Joshua Davenport and Jonathan Hughes and honorary pallbearer will be Bartley Brown. 

Visitation will be tonight after 6 p.m. at the Catlettsburg Freewill Baptist Church. 

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Roger Branham at the church. Interment will be in Catlettsburg Cemetery.

Thomas "Tom" Fleming 

1937-2004 

Thomas E. "Tom" Fleming, 66, of Flatwoods, Ky., was called to Heaven on Monday, May 3, to join his family that went on before him. 

He was born Dec. 3, 1937, in Ironton, Ohio, a son of the late Benjamine F. and Mary Alice Bradley Fleming. 

He was raised by his grandmother, the late Harriet Bradley, formerly of Bellefonte, Ky. 

He was a member of the Fundamental Christian Church of Varney, W.Va., pastored by the late R.A. West. He leaves behind his loving wife, Mickie J. Sergent Fleming, to cherish his memory. 

He was loved and will be missed by many, many friends and family. He is survived by three sons, Thomas E. Fleming II of Florida, Eric Shawn Fleming of Mt. Olive, W.Va., and Bryan Edward Fleming of Greenup, Ky.; and two stepsons, John and Jeff Perkins of Flatwoods. He had several grandchildren, of these, special granddaughter Elizabeth E. Conley, Johnny, Randy and Levi Perkins, live locally. Two great-grandchildren, Austin Johnson and Mattie Conley, also live locally. He is also survived by a brother, Charlie Joe Adkins and his wife, Nancy, of Louisville, Ky.; and a sister, Doris Gay King and her husband, Gene, of Virginia Beach, Va. 

Tom was a remarkable man with unlimited accomplishments and talents. He served in the Marines, was a Green Beret, a licensed pilot and past Raceland city judge. He was the owner and operator of Fleming Sign Shop in Flatwoods and had worked many years at the C&O Railroad. He was a graduate of Ashland High School and attended Morehead State University. 

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Services will be at the funeral home on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jimmy Harris and the Rev. Paul Clark officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Ruby Webb 

1914-2004 

Ruby M. Webb, age 90, of Webbville, Ky., passed away Monday, May 3, 2004, at her residence. 

Miss Webb was born Jan. 22, 1914, in Bells Trace, Ky., a daughter of the late Charles H. and Flora Roberts Webb. 

She was a member of the Sandhill Christian Church, the Webbville and Willard Homemakers for over 50 years and was a former employee of Owens & Illinois Glass Co. in New Jersey and the Clayton Lambert Co. in Ashland, Ky. 

In addition to her parents, three brothers, Grover, Clifford and Denver Webb and two sisters, Effie Webb Thompson and Wilma Webb Weaver, preceded her in death. 

Her survivors include two nieces who cared for her, Debbie Webb and Rowetta Webb, both of Webbville; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Woodrow and Mable Webb of Webbville, Charles Jr. and Iva Webb and Elwood Webb, all of Circleville, Ohio, and Chester Webb of Fallsburg, Ky.; and several nephews and nieces. 

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Mike Harper, minister. Burial will be in Webb Family Cemetery.

Joe D. Reynolds 

1924-2004 

Joe D. Reynolds, 80, of 76 Hardwood Lane, Globe, Ky., passed away Tuesday morning, May 4, 2004, at his residence. 

Mr. Reynolds was born April 8, 1924, in Carter County, Ky., a son of the late Kay and Bertha Newsome Reynolds. 

Joe retired in 1985 as executive director with the Northeast Kentucky Area Development Council. He attended the Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church. Joe was a 50-year member of the Soldier Masonic Lodge No. 708 F&AM, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite, a member of El Hasa Shrine Temple and Carter County Shrine Club, was a Kentucky colonel, was a charter member of the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138 and was a World War II Army veteran. 

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Reynolds and Glen Reynolds; and one sister, Mildred Reeder. 

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Maxine Bond Reynolds of Globe, along with several nieces and nephews, who will sadly miss him. 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Ky., with Gary Erwin, Lewis Davis and J.C. Bond officiating. Burial will follow in Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill with graveside military rites conducted by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138. 

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today and until time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 7 tonight and will be conducted by Soldier Masonic Lodge No. 708 F&AM.

William David Tackett, 54, of Grayson, Ky., passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at his residence. 

He was born Oct. 31, 1949, in Hitchins, Ky., a son of the late Thomas and Hattie Bair Tackett. 

He was a retired laborer with Local 310 of Cleveland, Ohio, a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a member of the VFW of Gregoryville. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tackett was also preceded in death by four brothers, Harlan Tackett, Ford Tackett, Hobert Tackett and Clyd Tackett; and a sister, Nellie Evans. 

His survivors include his wife, Madeline Lavelle Tackett of Grayson, Ky.; one son, Mardale Tackett of Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter, Gloria Berling of Indianapolis; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ward and Karen Tackett of Cleveland and Tommy and Rene Tackett of Grayson; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Eula and John Wright of Ashland, Ky., Opal Hall of Hitchins, Betty and Eugene O'Banion of Georgia, Ledola and Charles Adams of Ashland, Ohio, Isabell and Marion Clay of Grove City, Ohio, and Pearl and Gerald Merritt of Ackworth, Ga.; and six grandchildren, William Mardale Tackett Jr., April Shayle, Tiffany Engle, Rayna Engle, Alexis Berling and Jessica Berling.

Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 5, 1955, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of Troy and Janet Knipp Roe of Olive Hill. 

She was a homemaker and a self-employed accountant. 

In addition to her parents, Ruth Ann is survived by her husband of 29 years, Kenny Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and David Bowling of Grahn, Ky.; two nephews, Brett Bowling and Jared Bowling; and three nieces, Robin Yangus, Dava Jordan and Felicia Barker.

Johnny Cecil Huntsman 

1958-2004 

Johnny Cecil Huntsman, age 45, of 11390 West Highway U.S. 60, Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Sunday evening, May 9, 2004, in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., from injuries he received in a motorcycle accident. 

Mr. Huntsman was born July 12, 1958, in Carter County, Ky., a son of Raymond Huntsman and the late Bertha Rose Huntsman. 

He was a construction worker, working on the pipeline out of Local 798. He also served with the U.S. Army and was a member of Grayson VFW Post 3705. 

In addition to his father, Johnny is survived by his stepmother, Nellie Ester Huntsman, of Olive Hill; five brothers, Johnny Ray Barker, Kenny Binion and Paul Huntsman, all of Olive Hill, and Wayne Binion and Ricky Huntsman, both of Grayson; three sisters, Carolyn Collins, Penny Roark and Shirley Boggs, all of Olive Hill; and a special friend, Jim Crowe Binion. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill and officiated by Raymond Allen Barker, J.D. Riggs and Eury Barker. Burial will follow in Carroll Cemetery in Grahn, Ky.

Ruth Bocook 

1913-2004 

Ruth Chaffin Bocook of Charley Creek Road, South Point, Ohio, passed away quietly with her family by her side, Sunday, May 9, 2004, at her residence. 

She was 90 years of age. 

Mrs. Bocook was born June 21, 1913, in Lawrence County, Ky., a daughter of the late Bill and Mary Nunley Chaffin. 

Ruth was a Kentucky colonel and honorary Kentucky admiral. She had two citations from two governors and two state representatives, along with former President Clinton and his wife, Hillary, and recognition from President-elect John Kerry for having nine sons who served their country in the U.S. Navy. 

Besides her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward D. Bocook, in 1975; two sons, Joe Randall Bocook and William Jackson Bocook; three brothers, Ernest Chaffin, Alvie Chaffin and Ed Chaffin; and one sister, Emiline Chaffin. 

Surviving are Mrs. Bocook's 13 children: nine sons, Bill Bocook (Patricia), and John Bocook (Rene), both of Proctorville, Ohio, Jack Bocook (Marlene) of Huntington, W.Va., Jimmy Bocook of South Point, who resided with his mother, Alan Bocook (Sandra) of Catlettsburg, Ky., Edward "Eddie Bo" Bocook (Bea) of Grayson, Ky., David "Butch" Bocook (PK) of South Point, Danny Bocook (Judy) of Ashland, Ky., and Charles Bocook (Pam) of Catlettsburg; and four daughters, Lalona Hodges-Eaken (John) and Luanne Justice (Rick), both of South Point, Mary Hutchison (Stephen) of Huntington, and Donna Hanna (Thomas) of Frankford, W.Va. Mrs. Bocook also leaves behind 38 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. 

Words of remembrance will be shared by the family beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Comforting Scripture will be shared by Mike Neal. Mrs. Bocook will be laid to rest beside her husband following the ceremony at Harmon Cemetery in Lawrence County, Ky.
