Ashland Daily Independent, Thursday, Mar. 9, 2000 Arvel Stamper 1915-2000 Arvel Stamper, 84, of Ashland, died Wednesday in King's Daughters Medical Center. Mr. Stamper was born May 8, 1915, in Carter County, a son of the late Watt and Victoria Gose Stamper. He was retired from Blue Ribbon Bus Lines and a former minister of Gregorysville Christian Church. He was also a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Collins Stamper; a daughter, Lana Kersey of Ashland; two sons, Bill Stamper of Lexington and Curtis Stamper of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Mabel Wasmer of Portsmouth, Ohio; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evermans Cemetery in Gregorysville by the Rev. Owen Miller. Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight at Miller Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ramey-Estep Home, 1005 Bob McCullough Drive, Ashland, Ky. 41101.
