JAMES MONROE STAMPER Portsmouth Daily Times Saturday, August 30, 1958 James Monroe Stamper, 61, of 926 Waller St., died at 3:25 p.m. Friday at his residence following an illness of 2 1/2 years. He had been in serious condition for some time and had recently been a patient at University Hospital in Columbus. Born Dec 20, 1896, in Carter County, Ky., he was a son of Hiram Leslie and Anne Belle Rayburn Stamper. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Florana Hart of Frederick, Md.; sister, Lodena Mae Downs of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Harmon Stamper, 704 1/2 Waller St., and three grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister. Mr. Stamper was formerly employed by Selby Shoe Co. for 25 years and in recent years was the owner of Stamper Apts. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Piatt Funeral Home with Rev. John Cross officiating. Burial was in Memorial Burial Park.
