Daily Independent Thursday, May 3, 1956 John Stamper, 72, 821 Greenup Avenue, died in King's Daughters' Hospital at 4:45 a.m. today after an illness of one month. He was born January 18, 1884 in Carter County, a son of William and Sarah Bocook Stamper. He was a member of the Unity Baptist Church and had lived in Ashland for the past 17 years. He formerly lived at Morehead and was a retired plasterer. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Lula Stamper; one son James Everett Stamper of Ashland; one brother, William Stamper of Wolfe, Ky.; a half-brother, Watt Stamper of Olvie Hill, Ky.; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Patton of Wolfe, Ky. The body is at the John Steen Funeral Home.
