Raymond Emer Stamper, 89, of Marmet, formerly of Sylvester, died March 6, 2002, in Marmet Health Care, after a long illness. He was born Sept. 20, 1912, in Denton, Ky., a son of the late Bert and Ethel Belle Davis Stamper. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nina J. Putinsky. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitesville, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a retired foreman with Armco Inc., Montcoal. Surviving: son, Robert B. Stamper of Brookpark, Ohio; brothers, George of Ravenswood, Howard of Sarasota, Fla., Harry D. of Harrison, Ark., and Therman of Sylvester; sisters, Margaret Walker of Sylvester and Madeline Hale of Madison, Ala.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Service was 2 p.m. Saturday at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whiteville,with the Rev. W. Howard Gwinn Jr. officiating. Burial was in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas.
