William Tackett 1949-2004 William David Tackett, 54, of Grayson, Ky., passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at his residence. He was born Oct. 31, 1949, in Hitchins, Ky., a son of the late Thomas and Hattie Bair Tackett. He was a retired laborer with Local 310 of Cleveland, Ohio, a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a member of the VFW of Gregoryville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tackett was also preceded in death by four brothers, Harlan Tackett, Ford Tackett, Hobert Tackett and Clyd Tackett; and a sister, Nellie Evans. His survivors include his wife, Madeline Lavelle Tackett of Grayson, Ky.; one son, Mardale Tackett of Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter, Gloria Berling of Indianapolis; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ward and Karen Tackett of Cleveland and Tommy and Rene Tackett of Grayson; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Eula and John Wright of Ashland, Ky., Opal Hall of Hitchins, Betty and Eugene O'Banion of Georgia, Ledola and Charles Adams of Ashland, Ohio, Isabell and Marion Clay of Grove City, Ohio, and Pearl and Gerald Merritt of Ackworth, Ga.; and six grandchildren, William Mardale Tackett Jr., April Shayle, Tiffany Engle, Rayna Engle, Alexis Berling and Jessica Berling. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson. Burial will be in the Edison Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the East Carter High School Junior R.O.T.C. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, at the funeral home.
