William Ray Thomas - 1921-2006

William Ray Thomas, 84, of Willard, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Thomas was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Twin Fork, W.Va., a son of the late William Henry and Rose Easterling Thomas.

He was retired after employment for 23 years as a Carter County school bus driver and was a farmer. He was a member of Willard Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Shannon Yates; a brother, Bobby Thomas; and two sisters, Betty McDavid and Grace DeFoe.

His survivors include his wife, Catherine Yates Thomas of Willard; three sons, Donnie Thomas of Willard and Gary Yates and Jerry Yates, both of Grayson, Ky.; two brothers, Dearl Thomas of Willard and Billy Joe Thomas of Grayson; five sisters, Hazel Allen of Florida, Helen Walker of Willard, Susan Holbrook of Grayson, Fredia Phillips of Florida and Yuvonne Wells of Grayson; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Ronnie Graves, minister. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the funeral home.
