David O. Bledsoe

The picture was taken in Carter county, approximately 1930. On the left is David O. Bledsoe. On the right is his sister Talitha "Leitha" (Bledsoe) Mosier. Talitha moved to Kentucky in 1880 with her husband William W. Mosier and their children from the north end of Newman Ridge in Scott County, Virginia. They made the trip via covered wagon and built a cabin on Clifty, where William farmed and raised sheep.

William Mosier's first acquaintance with the area may have been during the Civil War, when his unit (the 1st East Tennessee Union Cavalry) stayed briefly in the vicinity of Grayson. William and Leitha are buried in Clifty Acres, also known as the Stephens Cemetery. David O. Bledsoe is buried in the Carroll Cemetery on Rattlesnake Ridge Road.
