John Dale Cox, born 10 May 1939, is the fourth child of John Wesley Cox and Estill Elizabeth Bradshaw. 
 
John Wesley Cox (1900-1983) was born in Logan County, West Virginia. Estill Elizabeth (Bradshaw) Cox (1900-1939) was born in Leon, Carter County, Kentucky. 
After Estill's death on 24 Jul 1939 in Logan County, West Virginia, two-month old John Dale moved to Leon, Carter County, Kentucky 
to be raised by his grandparents, Frank and Mary Jane.
 
Frank Bradshaw (1872-1942) is the son of Robert R. Bradshaw (1832-after 1900) of Greenup County, Kentucky and Elizabeth Howard (about 1840-1887) of Scioto County, Ohio. 
Both Robert & Elizabeth died in Carter County, Kentucky. 
 
Mary Jane Pope (1875-1971) is the daughter of James Franklin Pope (1850-1921) of Carter County, Kentucky and America Rebecca Eidson (1857-1934) 
of Hawkins County, Tennessee. Both died in Carter County, Kentucky and are buried at the Pope Cemetery in Leon, Carter County, Kentucky
