James Franklin Burchett
This is a photo of my Great Grandfather, James Franklin Burchett with his daughter Emma Burchett. James was born on August 1, 1876 in Olive Hill, Carter County Kentucky. He graduated Barnes Medical College, St. Louis. MO. in 1900. He served his internship in Vanceburg, KY. He then moved to Valdosta, GA in 1911 where he practiced medicine as an Eye Surgeon until his death. Dr. Burchett died on 30th Jan 1937 of Endocarditis. He is buried in Bethel Cemetery off of Rt 2 in Carter County next to his mother and father, Martha Ellen Bond and Benjamin Franklin Burchett III. The photo was taken in Valdosta, GA in 1912.

This is a photo of Dr. Burchett with his family in Valdosta, GA in 1914. Pictured are his wife Nettie Lee (Corns) Burchett, daughter Emma Burchett and son James Franklin Burchett Jr.. James Jr. was born in 1913.

"Nettie and Dr. Burchett were separated, I believe, at the time of Dr. Burchett's death in 1937. Nettie never remarried, for her obituary in the Valdosta News paper has her listed as the widow of Dr. James F. Burchett Sr. Nettie died on July 1, 1966 of a heart attack in Quitman, Georgia. She was buried next to her son, James Franklin Burchett Jr., in Riverview Cemetery, Valdosta, Georgia. The grave site location is 30.63.63 N by 83.19.27 W."
