Boss was b. 5 May 1875 Iron Hill, Carter Co., Ky. d. 1 May 1958 buried Grayson Memory Gardens, Carter Co., Ky.
He was the son of John and Margaret "Maggie" Newman Maddix. After the death of John, his mother, Maggie, he later married Leroy "Lee" Burnett and Boss later adopted the last name of Burnett.
Boss's first wife, Geneva, was b. 12 Nov 1876 d. 6 Aug 1904 buried Three Pine Ridge Cemetery. Boss and Geneva had an infant daughter that died at birth. She and Geneva share a common head stone.

Boss married Amanda 25 May 1907. She was the d/o Austin F. Ross and Lucinda "Lucy" Francis Armstrong Ross.
He and Amanda's first child Berniece was born 20 Jul 1908 and d. 2 Oct 1908.
After Amanda's death, Boss married Maude C. Elliott Clevenger (a widow) and their children were James Everett Burnett b. 1922, and Maggie Burnett Elliott b. 5 Feb 1923.
