Luke was the son of Daniel Carroll. Luke was born in 1848 and died in 1938.
Pictured below is the trunk of Daniel Carroll, born circa 1800, husband of Rebecca and father of Nelson, John, Jane, Martha, Elizabeth, Daniel, Jr., Solomon, and Patsy.
Upon the death of Rebecca, Daniel married Mary Ann Sturgill and their children were Thomas, Samuel, David, Phoebe, and Luke.

When Daniel crossed the mountains from Virginia to Kentucky, he carried with him this trunk and the trunk not only has survived,
but still remains with members of the Carroll family.

This is Uncle Luke Carroll's family. Luke (1848-1938) is the one who is sitting.
The first couple on the left standing is George and Jesse Cox Carroll,
the second couple is Jess and Maude Maddix Carroll,
and the two ladies are (l to r) Maude Stevens Carroll (wife of Curt Carroll, and Nance Sturgill Carroll, (wife of John Carroll).
