He married Nervie Elizabeth Brown, daughter of Wheeler Brown and Lucy Dewitt on 31 January 1936 in Rowan County, Kentucky. 
Nervie Elizabeth was born 16 September 1922 at Bluestone, Rowan County, Kentucky and died 28 December 1993 in Flemingsburg, Fleming County, Kentucky.
