Charles Baker Imel and Opal Crawford

This is a special picture. This sweet young man is Charles Baker Imel. Better known as Chuck.
He was a starter on the school basketball team.

This picture was taken at Erie Elementary at the end of our seventh grade year, which I believe was 1971.
This was the last year that Erie was open. The picture was posed.

Opal Crawford is the teacher. She would not have spanked Chuck for anything. He kept watching her to make sure she didn’t.
She laughed and told him if he didn’t hold still, she would paddle him.

Chuck was killed in a hunting accident later that summer.

Charles was born September 28, 1958 and died August 30, 1971.

He was the son of William Willard Imel and Charlene (Messer) Imel
