Charles Kitchen, his wife, Loretta Mobley Kitchen.
Charles Kitchen was born Jan. 28, 1845 in Willard, the son of Andrew J. Kitchen, for many years a Justice of the Peace in Carter County, and Winnie Bays Kitchen. Charles was the grandson of Andrew Kitchen, Carter County's first representative to the Kentucky House of Representatives, and Mary McMahan Williams. Charles ran a general store with his son, James Houston Kitchen. Reminiscenses of this store and the Kitchen familiy are contained in Bert Kitchen's Journal, available on this website. Charles later moved to Ashland and engaged in the lumber (Van Sant, Kitchen & Company) and other businesses. He helped organize the Second National Bank of Ashland and was its President.
Loretta Mobley was born Dec. 2, 1847 in Carter County. She was the daughter of Samuel Mobley and Sabra King; granddaughter of Samuel Mobley and Elizabeth Talitha Thompson, and Elias King and Isabel Horton, all of Carter County. Loretta Kitchen died May 27, 1904 and Charles Kitchen died Aug. 30, 1923. Both are interred at the Kitchen Mausoleum at the Ashland Cemetery.
Their daughter Ida Mae Kitchen married Marion Clevenger; their daughter Frances Clevenger married Joseph Matthews.
