Peter was the son of James Middleton and Darcus Skaggs.
Peter was the brother of Jefferson Davis Middleton.

"In their later years they moved to Greenup Co., where many of their children lived.
As far as I can tell Jefferson Davis never married. I found a death date for him 17 Feb. 1922. and it was listed in the J.W. Kegley diary."

"Dorcas (Skaggs) Middleton left James Middleton with about 13 children (of course some were not at home). She left with a neighbor, David Whisman, who also left a wife and family behind. In the 1880 Elliott County census Dorcas and David are married and living in Elliott Colunty. The last child of James and Dorcas was Hannah born about 1865. James Middleton's great-granddaughter lives next door to me."
"I'd like to know if Barbarey Ellen's first husband Robert Fletcher? I had heard that her husband was killed in the Civil War. I believe that when she married James Middleton that she was a Fletcher".
