Descendants of James Franklin Pope & America Rebecca Eidson at Pope Cemetery in Leon, Carter County, Kentucky. 07 May 1934. America Rebecca Eidson was born 05 Mar 1857 in Hawkins County, Tennessee and according to her death record, died 03 May 1934 in Hitchins, Carter County, Kentucky. {Starting with the man to the left of Ella Pope, who is wearing a white Cloche hat and then going right.} Lewis Harlan Pope, Ella [Pope] Chatfield, Heardy Paul Pope, Jewel [Pope] Ison, Effie [Pope] Everman, unidentified tall man, Ida Mae [Pope] Artis, Lora C. [Pope][Gifford] Rice, Mary Jane [Pope] Bradshaw, Lonnie E. Pope, James Edward Pope and Ellis Pope. Young man on right side of photograph in white shirt, crouching down, believed to be Ralph Ison, Jewel's son. All others believed to be descendants of James Franklin Pope & America Rebecca Eidson. That is likely Arminta "Mint" [Pope] Whalman between Lonnie and James Edward. Notes: The individuals have been identified to the best of my ability based on other identified photographs, as well as oral history through my elders. I have seen "Heardy" spelled various ways on other photographs and U.S. Federal Census records. His World War II registration card and the California death index spelled it "Heardy" but those could be incorrect, as well. Corrections and additional information regarding individuals in photograph very much appreciated.Photograph and information submitted by Kevin Jay Carroll.
