Five sons and two of six daughters of Andrew Porter, born in 1822 in Wythe Co., Va., and Lucy (Cornett) Porter, born in 1825 in Grayson Co., Va.
This Porter family moved to Carter Co. Ky. from Grayson Co. Va. in 1866.

The photo was taken ca. 1901 at Old Fairview Methodist Church on Porter Creek in Carter county near the Elliott Co. line.

Left to Right:

Levi Sheffield Porter, born Jan. 12, 1845 in Grayson Co., Va. He married Bettie Lundy on Jan. 4, 1863 in Sparta, Alleghany Co. NC. He died Jan 23, 1926 Carter Co., KY.

Martha (Porter) Day, born Oct. 29, 1849 in Grayson Co., Va. She married Daniel Day. Martha died March 8, 1910 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY

Rev. Steven Lafayette Porter, born Aug. 15, 1851 in Grayson Co., Va. He married Emily Florence Bumgardner on Nov. 7, 1872 in Elliott Co. KY. He died Feb. 10, 1932 in Langlade, Co. WI.

Alexander Francis (Alick) Porter, born Jan. 29, 1855 in Grayson Co., Va. He married Laura P. Fulton on July 19, 1874 in Robertson Co., KY. Alexander died Aug. 8, 1928 in Ashland, Boyd Co., KY.

James Martin Porter, born Nov. 19, 1859 in Grayson Co., Va. In 1883 he married Lucinda Long. James died May 6, 1906 in Sandy Hook, Elliott co. KY.

Mary (Porter) Dwelly, born Sept. 1858 Grayson Co., Va. She married George Dwelly on July 16, 1876 in Robertson Co., KY. She died Oct. 7, 1920 in Robertson Co., KY.

John C. Porter, born Oct. 23, 1863 in Grayson Co., Va. He married Nancy V. Catron on Dec. 20, 1884 in Carter Co., KY. John died Aug 25, 1928 in Ashland, Boyd Co., KY.
