My 2nd Great Grandfather, Mitchell Qualls is on the left.
He was born July 15,1836 in Scott County Virginia and died Feb. 23,1914 in Greenup, KY.
He is the son of David and Barbary (Smith) Qualls.
The man on the right is his son James A. Qualls, born Feb 7, 1879. He died August 5 1969.
James married Sarah Belle Tackett who is seated in the middle.
James and Sarah had ten children but I'm not sure of the names of the three in the picture with them.
Sarah Belle Tackett was born May 30, 1884 in Carter County Kentucky,
daughter of William and Rebecca (Bryant) Tackett. She died April 16,1938.
"I got this photo from Earl Gilliam. His mother is Ada Qualls. Ada is my Grand Aunt and the picture was handed down to Earl after her death."

Comments by John W. Grace:
I would guess that the photo was taken in April or May of 1911. If that is a little girl on the right,
that would be Rebecka (b. 1908), the boy would be Willie (b. 1905). The baby would be Orville (b. March 3, 1911).
According to the info I have, the next female child after Rebecka was Myrtle, born in 1920,
long after Mitchell Qualls had passed away. Their son, James, passed away in 1910, so this would represent their
remaining children up to the birth of Roy in 1914. Roy was only 2 weeks old when Mitchell Qualls died,
and the baby in the photo looks older than 2 weeks.
Like this one, a number of the early family photos in the Photo Gallery were taken in front of quilts or bed spreads.
