and Julia (Toliver) Stanley (1851-1895?), the taller of the two women.
The other two persons are unknown.
This is a photo of James Sheridan Stanley in later life.
James and Julia lived in the Denton area of Carter County for many years.
They were the parents of Melinda (Barricks), Clifton Dean, Charles, Alexander, Julia Bell (Riffe), Bert Stanley and Howard Stanley.
Julia is buried in an unmarked grave on the Stanley farm in Denton and James is buried at Manning Chapel.
Julia was the daughter of Wade Hampton Tolliver and Melinda (Stewart Tolliver.
James was the son of Joseph Stanley and Nancy Crabtree.
James worked as an ore digger and worked at several furnaces in and around Carter County.
He later worked in the timber business.
