Jesse Kenneth Waddell
Jesse Kenneth Waddell was born 1848 in Carter County and died there in 1914.
Jesse is the son of Dr. Alfred Goodman Waddell.
He was buried in the Johnson Cemetery in Stephen, Elliott County, KY.
His wife, Judea Alma (Lewis) Waddell was born in Carter County in 1852, and died in Middletown, Ohio in 1926.
They were married in Isom Creek, Elliott County in January 1873.
Judea was the daughter of Jeremiah Lewis and Delilah Branham. Photo
After Judea died she was transported to the Johnson Cemetery in Stephens, Elliott County, KY
and buried there along side her husband.
Jesse was a farmer and listed as a School Teacher in the 1880 Elliott County, KY Federal Census.
There was a school in Ibex, Elliott County named "Waddell School" and as of 1999 the rebuilt building was still standing.
The following is from a book (History of Elliott County, Kentucky 1985):
"Waddell - on Little Sandy River. A one-room log structure built in 1871. Burned in 1921.
Rebuilt in 1924 as a one-room boxed building. Abolished in 1968. Transported to Lakeside Elementary."
I think they originally lived in that part of Carter County that later became Elliott County in 1869.
In 1909 Jesse bought 81 acres in the Corporation of Williard, Carter County Kentucky.
All of Jesse and Judea's children were born in Elliott County. Following is a list of their children:
