William Riley Walker
William Riley Walker was born 11 February, 1835 on Deer Creek, present Carter Co., KY, a son of Jeremiah and Teresa (Sammons) Walker. He married Sarah Jane (Pennington) Blankenbeckler [the widow of James Blankenbeckler] on 4 March, 1868. Sarah was born 9 January, 1845 in Lawrence Co., KY, a daughter of Elisha and Nancy (Sturgill) Pennington.
William and Sarah were the parents of James Harvey, Amanda, Jeremiah, Jemima, Daniel Boone, Samuel Columbus "Lum", Oscar, and Lafayette "Lafe" Walker. Sarah also had three children from her first marriage. Sarah Jane (Pennington) Walker died 1 November, 1885.
William Riley Walker survived his wife by over thirty years and died in Greenup Co., KY (during the flu epidemic) on 3 March, 1917 at age 82. He was buried in the Duzan Cemetery, in Greenup Co., KY.
