House built by Eli Cooper (wife Rachel Duzan) in late 1820s. Standing in front are descendants of Eli and Rachel (Duzan) Cooper.
It sat on a high hill overlooking the Tygarts Valley at Kehoe.
The original Cooper Log Cabin at Kehoe, Kentucky
One of the earliest homes built in the Kehoe area was a log cabin built in 1835 by Eli Cooper and his wife Rachel Duzan Cooper.
It was originally one large room with upstairs bedrooms reached by a ladder.
It was built on a tract of land purchased from William Lindsey Poague that was a part of a lnad grant to his father General Robert Poague
which included 80,000 acres laying along Tygart Creek and its tributaries from Leatherwood Creek south to Olive Hill, Kentucky
and including what is now Carter Caves State Park. The picture was taken in 2006, and the cabin is still occupied.
