This is a photo taken of the "Great Flood of 1937". The photo is looking from where US 60 intersects with Cross Street,
looking toward town bridge and the railroad, and Woodside.

This is also of the flood of 1937, looking down RailRoad Street from the west of where the Post Office is now located.

To show you how high the water was, the men are standing in what is now US 60, near the Donnie Owens apartment building!
They are standing is about 4 inches of water. Just think how far that is away from the creek!

That sure looks like a 1951 Chevy in the top photo. The date written on the photo may not be correct. JWG
