Athawominee - The Warrior's Path

From Flemingsburg to Owingsville - 22 miles

KY 32 and KY 111 to the Licking River,

This routing on KY 111 is far from ideal because it is well east of the Licking River.
There are roads on the southwestern side of the Licking River that could be used,
but they are local roads that require several changes in course and it is easy to lose direction.
Many local roads are un-identified and there are few people to get directions from.
GPS navigating will work, if it's available, but few roads actually cross the Licking River anyway.

Warrior's Path access points

Cross-country access to the suggested course of the Warrior's Path in this area is very limited.
There is little publicly-owned land, so any access would be at the will of private owners.

This is also mostly true of access to the Licking River. Although there are public roads that
intersect with the river, negotiating them is problematic in that they are poorly marked and
less than perfectly maintained. For those who do perservere, the Licking River is one of the better
kayaking/canoeing opportunities in this part of Kentucky. It does flow through a very scenic area.
