Athawominee - The Warrior's Path

Owingsville and the Licking River - 14 miles

CR 965 closely parallels the route of the Licking River in southern Bath County,
although it does detour from the river into the hills on which Owingsville was settled.
Few of the local roads which are closer to the Licking River actually cross it,
so CR 965 will be used for our purposes.

The Licking River eventually meaders to the east and becomes a less useful guide to destinations
to the south, so the Warrior's Path leaves the Licking River and follows Slate Creek.

Warrior's Path access points

There are several informal public access points to the Licking River in this area, but access to Slate Creek is not very useful because its waterflow volume is insufficient for long distance kayak or canoe navigation.
