AN ASSASINATION -
Just as we go to press we learn that a murder occurred yesterday afternoon near Earlington. Details are very meager, an diligent search by us has failed to discover anybody who seemed to know anything about it.
All we could learn was to the effect that one Richard Coffman had some children with him, who had run away from him. He had re-captured them, and was arranging to bring them here and have them bound to him. Yesterday afternoon two brothers of the children, both youths, waylaid and shot Coffman, and at this writing his wounds are thought to be mortal. The Sheriff was sent for, and went out to arrest the Prices.
