DR. J.D. LANDRUM
Dr. J.D. LANDRUM one of the oldest physicians and most honored citizens of Mayfield, Ky was called to his reward in the city last Monday morning in speaking of death the Mirror has the following to say:
Dr Landrum, the son of James and Nancy WALDEN LANDRUM, was born in Barren county, Kentucky, October 1, 1822, his parents having been Virginians.Dr Landrum was reared in Trigg county, Ky; where in 1845 he began the study of medicine with Dr. Levingston Lindsay, and later he practiced in that county with Dr MCKINNEYand Drane four years. Then he entered the Phisio-Medical College at Cincinnati, Ohio from which later in 1853, he graduated. The he located at Lafayette, Ky and practiced over a wide range of territory.
In December 1851, he came to Mayfield where until two years ago he continued to practice medicine. In 1862 Dr Landrum served in the State senate a term of four years. In 1864 he was elected Grand Master of the grand Lodge of F and A.M. of Kentucky.
He was married in 1850 to Miss Catherine ROBBINS of Roaring Springs, Ky by which union five children were born, namely, Will L, Mrs A.M.. QUINN Tom J and John W LANDRUM: all surviving except Mrs Laura Kirksey, who died some years ago at Waco, Texas. of the living children all save, Tom J LANDRUM The funeral services were held at the Christian Church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Elder Roger L.
