David W. Layton, Jr Died In Washington
Death Comes Suddenly To Former Trigg Countian Residing in Washington, D.C.David W. Layton, Jr., 36 year old former resident of Cadiz, died suddenly at home of his sister, Mrs G.O. Basham, in Washington, D.C. on May 1st according to a special communication with an immediate member of the family in Louisville Tuesday.
Young Layton had been employed in Richmond, Va for the past Two years but had recently accepted a position in the capitol city.
The deceased spent the majority of his youth in Cadiz, having received his grade and high school education here. He was very popular among the younger set, and his many friends deeply regret to hear of his untimely death.
Surviving are his father and mother, Mr and Mrs David W. Layton, Sr., Louisville, one brother, K. Vanton Layton, St. Louis, Mo., and five sisters, Barbara and Maude Layton, Louisville, Ann Layton, Mt Venton, Ohio, Mrs W.L. Woodford, Montclair, New Jersey, and Mrs G.O. Basham, Arlington, Va. He was a member of the Episcopal Church. Funeral services were held in Washington, D.C. by the Rector of Christ Church of Alexandria.
The body will be cremated and burial will take place in Cadiz at a date yet unannounced Cadiz Record May 07, 1940
PROVIDENCE - Nell Hammack LAYTON, 69, of Providence died at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda LAYTON of Detroit; three sons, Michael S. LAYTON of Providence, Charles LAYTON of Wheaton, Ill., and George LAYTON of San Jose, Calf., two brothers, C. M. HAMMACK of Providence and Neil HAMMACK of Nashville, Tenn.
Arrangements are pending at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence.
